In a recent interview with SA Homeowner, I was asked some interesting questions that I thought I’d share. Enjoy.
Q-What first drew you into the world of interior design and what do you love most about it? A- Creating Interior spaces has been part of who I am since I was a child – I naturally progressed into a career which I was passionate about and I consider myself so privileged to spend every day doing what I love. Taking an idea from conceptualisation through to actualisation is an incredibly rewarding process which I never tire of.
Q- How would you describe your overall design philosophy? A- It all starts with the client and their space – and it remains so. The client’s responses to fabrics, colours and design suggestions are the source of my direction in creating a home which is uniquely tailored to each client. My role is then to offer them a vision which encompasses new trends and products, and is both practical and stylish, creating their ideal space. I oversee all elements of the design, through the manufacturing process, to installation. I take pride in that all my furniture is custom made locally by our finest craftsman.
Q- How has your design philosophy evolved from the time you first started in this industry to now? A- I have always remained true to the principal that the client inspires the look – not my taste. My work evolves and changes constantly as I embrace new trends and products to create original looks for every client. With time, trends change and it is always interesting to look back at old work. When doing that I am always astounded by how far technology has brought us in the last 20 years – the diversity of product we see now and the creative resources we have available to us has made my career in design endlessly rewarding, and a constant journey of personal growth.
